Vibrating Fork Level Switch
The Vibrating Fork Level Switch is a highly reliable point level detection instrument designed for precise maximum and minimum level monitoring of free-flowing solids, powders, granules, and certain liquids. It provides dependable level control and alarm signaling to prevent overflow, empty running, and process interruptions in industrial storage and handling systems.
Operating on the proven tuning fork vibration principle, the switch remains completely unaffected by changes in material density, conductivity, dielectric constant, dust, humidity, or vibration. With no moving mechanical parts, it ensures long service life, excellent repeatability, and virtually maintenance-free operation even in harsh process environments.
Product Share on :Applications

- Minerals, coal, pulverized coal, silica, and bulk solids
Working Principle
The Vibrating Fork Level Switch operates on the tuning fork vibration principle. The fork is continuously vibrated at its natural resonant frequency using piezoelectric elements. When the process material comes into contact with the vibrating tines, the vibration is dampened due to the resistance offered by the material.
This change in vibration amplitude is detected electronically and converted into a switching signal, which energizes or de-energizes the output relay. The relay contacts can be used to activate alarms, control feed conveyors, motors, or discharge valves, ensuring accurate and reliable point level detection for high or low-level applications.
Construction
The switch is built with a robust industrial-grade design featuring a compact cast aluminum enclosure with IP65 / IP66 protection. The vibrating fork is manufactured from high-quality stainless steel (SS316) to provide excellent resistance to abrasion, corrosion, and mechanical stress. Integral electronics ensure easy installation, while LED indicators provide clear status and alarm indication.
Installation
- Side or top mounting on bins, silos, hoppers, and tanks
- Standard threaded or optional flanged process connection
- Field-selectable fail-safe mode for high or low-level operation
- Plug-and-play installation with no calibration required
