Diaphragm Level Switch
The Diaphragm Level Switch is a rugged, maintenance-free mechanical level sensing device designed for reliable point level detection of dry bulk solids. It is widely used to detect high or low material levels in silos, bins, and hoppers containing powders, granules, or free-flowing solids.
Built for harsh industrial environments, the switch operates without any external power supply and delivers consistent performance even in dusty, humid, or high-vibration conditions. Its corrosion-resistant construction ensures long service life and dependable switching action.

Working Principle
The Diaphragm Level Switch works on a simple mechanical pressure principle. When bulk material inside the bin or hopper reaches the diaphragm, the pressure exerted by the material deflects the flexible diaphragm inward.
This diaphragm movement mechanically actuates an internal micro switch, generating a reliable ON/OFF electrical signal. When the material level falls and pressure is removed, the diaphragm returns to its original position, resetting the switch.
Construction
The switch features a heavy-duty aluminum housing designed to withstand harsh industrial conditions. The diaphragm is available in Neoprene, PTFE, or Stainless Steel, allowing compatibility with different materials and operating environments. The internal micro switch ensures precise and repeatable switching performance.
Installation
- Flange type mounting – side or bottom installation
- Direct mounting on bins, silos, or hoppers
- No external power supply required
- Quick installation with minimal maintenance
