The Vibrating Rod Level Switch is an economical and highly dependable point-level detection device designed for accurate monitoring of powders, granules, and bulk solids. It ensures reliable high or low-level indication in silos, hoppers, bins, and storage vessels, helping prevent overflow, material starvation, and process downtime.

Based on a piezoelectric vibration principle, the rod vibrates at its natural resonant frequency. When material contacts the probe, vibration damping occurs and the switch changes state instantly. The device is immune to variations in material density, moisture, dust, conductivity, or dielectric constant, ensuring stable performance even in harsh industrial environments.

Working Principle

The Vibrating Rod Level Switch operates using a piezoelectric crystal that excites the rod at a fixed resonant frequency. In free air, the rod vibrates continuously without obstruction.

When material covers the vibrating rod, the vibration is dampened due to the mass and resistance of the product. This change is sensed electronically and converted into a switching signal, activating or deactivating the output relay for alarm, conveyor control, or interlocking systems.

Construction

The instrument features a compact and rugged industrial design with a cast aluminum weatherproof enclosure offering IP65 / IP66 protection. The probe is manufactured from high-grade stainless steel (SS304 / SS316) to withstand abrasion, corrosion, and mechanical stress. Integral electronics ensure easy installation and long-term operational stability.
